Jay P. Harter received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Marketing from California State University, Chico and his California Real Estate Agents License in 1988… and set his goals and work ethic toward being a leader in the dental industry in 1996. Jay originally began his career as a Commercial Real Estate Agent specializing in Office Building Leasing and Sales in the Sacramento area from 1988 through 1996, and then embarked upon a dental career with Dentsply Caulk. Jay has since served as a Field Sales Consultant with the “Fortune Top 250” company Henry Schein Dental, Inc. “HSD” for over 15 years, was selected to be an HSD Regional General Manager for 5 years, was an HSD Corporate Trainer for over 8 years, a CAD/CAM Specialist with HSD for 2 years, and has worked with the Schein Practice Transitions division in blending the dental business with the commercial real estate business through dental practice and dental commercial real estate sales and brokerage in total over the past 6 years.
Jay has repeatedly and routinely received “Top Producer” awards in the country within each corporate division of the Henry Schein Dental, Inc. umbrella for which he has been involved, for both customer satisfaction and company production awards. During Jay’s Management and Corporate Trainer experiences, he was invited to speak throughout the country to both Schein professional sales representatives and to dentists at dental study club and dental society events on topics such as dental business growth opportunities, CAD/CAM and same-day dentistry, internal marketing, dental team harmony, HIPAA regulations, oral cancer early detection, and “added-value” business and dental philosophies. Jay’s light-hearted yet poignant approach to speaking about serious topics in today’s challenging economic dental climate consistently earned him ‘9s’ and ‘10s’ from audiences throughout the United States.
Jay resides in El Dorado Hills, California with his wife, 2 daughters, and 3 dogs… for whom provides him the greatest source of joy in life. Jay remains active in the local church and charitable events and has a limited but growing online presence as a composer of music. He enjoys time having BBQs and movie nights, hiking the Sierra Nevadas, visiting the ocean, church activities, world travel, rock-hounding, writing music, and classic convertibles.
Jay Harter’s experience and connections were absolutely essential for my sale. I am pleased to recommend Jay Harter, from Henry Schein Professional Practice Transitions, who I worked with to broker the sale of my practice. I tried to sell the practice working alongside a consultant who specializes in managing dental offices, but not selling them. This was attempted by listing privately through various classified ads online and through dental publications. The DIY approach only proved to be a waste of time and money. The time it took to get all the documentation prepped, get the practice photographed, listed, priced, disclosed, shown, etc. was not worth it in the end. The responses were underwhelming, and I had no real idea of the qualifications of people who did answer ads. I tried this for about 3-4 months and the constant listing and relisting approach just wasn’t working.
After working with Jay last summer on the PracticeValuation to get the business ready to list privately, I decided to engage his full-services to market and sell the practice in the winter, and this was the best decision I made. Jay was quick to get everything prepped and listed for sale. He immediately had responses from qualified buyers.
